Dhaka-Kathmandu to enhance ties on climate issues

C T Online Desk: Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari paid a courtesy call on Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser on environment, forest, and climate Change, at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday.

During their meeting, the two officials discussed mutual cooperation on various issues, particularly focusing on environmental protection, climate change actions, and energy collaboration.

Adviser Rizwana Hasan emphasized the importance of joint efforts in combating the adverse effects of climate change, noting that both Bangladesh and Nepal are highly vulnerable to its impacts.

She expressed Bangladesh’s readiness to collaborate closely with Nepal on environmental initiatives, including reforestation, water conservation, and eco-friendly development projects.

Ambassador Bhandari highlighted Nepal’s commitment to regional cooperation in addressing climate challenges and stressed the significance of sharing knowledge and best practices between the two countries. He also extended an invitation to the adviser to visit Nepal.

Both parties agreed to enhance bilateral relations through environmental diplomacy and explore future collaborative projects aimed at promoting sustainable development and resilience in the region.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties in tackling shared environmental challenges.
