C T Online Desk: Following a directive from Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, the entry fee for the National Botanical Garden in Mirpur has been revised.
The ministry issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.
The entry fee for individuals above 12 years has been reduced from Tk100 to Tk30. For children under 12, the previous fee was Tk50. Now, the fee for children aged 6 to 12 has been set at Tk15, while children aged 0 to 5 can enter for free.
For groups of up to 100 students from educational institutions, the entry fee has been set at Tk1,000, while for groups of 101-200 students, it is Tk1,500. Foreign tourists will be charged an entry fee of Tk500 or its equivalent in US dollars.
Besides, an annual entry card for morning walks has been priced at Tk500 per person. Cardholders can access the garden from 6:30 am to 9:30 am between November and March, and from 6:00 am to 9:00 am between April and October. In case of loss or renewal, a fee of Tk200 will be required for a new card.
Notably, a previous notification issued on 21 April 2024 regarding the increase in the entry fee for the Botanical Garden sparked widespread criticism and dissatisfaction among visitors. In response, the Advisor instructed the relevant authorities to reconsider and adjust the fees accordingly.
