C T Online Desk: An organisational meeting of the Chattogram Editors Club was held on August 23 last at its office premises with Chattogram Prathidin Editor Mr.Aiyan Sharma in the chair. The meeting unanimously nominated MoinuddinQuaderi Shawkat as chief Advisor of the club. The newly elected Chief Advisor thankful to Chittagong Editors Club for nominating him in this honourable postof the organisation. He said , . I am honored to be nominated and felicitated as Chief Advisor of the organization. The first ever Editors council meeting in Chittagong was held at my residence on Sirajdullah Road , in the city. After that, the 2nd meeting was held at Dainik Azadi office. Professor Khaled, KG Mustafa, Alhaj Abdullah Al Sagir, Moinul Alam, Noor Saeed Chowdhury, BA Azad Islamabadi, Moinul Ahsan Siddiqui, Afzal Matin Siddiqui and Muslim Khan played a role in the formation of this Editors council. Mr. Khaled was made president and I was the Secretary . In a function of Chittagong Editors Club today, August 23 afternoon, during the speech of the honored guest, the world-renowned journalist, former member of the executive council of the World Press Council and former member of the Bangladesh Press Council, Mainuddin Quadri Shawkat disclosed this chronological history of the Editors Council. .The president of the organization Chattogram Prothidin Editor Ayan Sharma presided over this meeting. Club Secretary Ziaul Haque moderated the function.
The chief adviser also said constituting a organisation our fundamental rights. We are also citizens of this country as well as professional journalists. According to Article 38 of the Constitution, everyone has the right to organize. Editors are the first eligible members of the Press Club. Editors should always have priority in becoming member.
Among others in the meeting, Editor of Commercial Times Lion Sujit Kumar Das, Editor of Purba Bangla M. Ali Hossain participated in the discussion.Daily Alokita Chattogram Editor Hasan Akbar Chowdhury, The Crime Editor Ashish Chandra Nandi, Ijtihad Editor Jasim Uddin and Parbatya Bani Editor Mujahidul Islam Baten and Dainik Bayezit Editor Habibur Rahman. Daily Chattogram Khabar Editor Sheikh Mohammad Arif were present on the occasion.
