C T Online Desk: One person was killed and at least 15 injured when a passenger bus crashed into a road divider and flipped in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Saturday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known. He was approximately 60 years old.
Sources said a passenger-laden bus of Star Line Transport was going to Feni from Chattogram on Saturday morning.
While passing through the Faujdarhat area by the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Sitakunda, one of the wheels of the bus punctured. The bus driver lost control over the steering, hit a road divider, and flipped.
As the bus turned upside down, the passengers got trapped inside the bus.
On information, the firefighters from surrounding stations rushed to the spot to rescue the trapped passengers, said firefighter Md Sabur of Sitakunda Fire Service and Civil Defence station, adding that around 15 people were injured in the accident.
Three of them – Md Arif, 30, Abdul Motaleb, 52, and Sapna Rani Nath, 49, were rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital in a critically injured condition, he said.
Besides, the body of a sexagenarian man was also recovered from the spot, added the firefighter.
