Weather forecast: Temperature to rise further

C T Online Desk: Severe heatwave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts and is likely to continue, raising the temperature further.

Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rangpur and Barisal divisions and rest parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Mymensingh, Moulvibazar and Rangamati and it may continue, said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Tuesday.

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at one or two places over Sylhet division with hails at isolated places.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to the increase in moisture incursion, the discomfort may persist.

The highest temperature was recorded at 40.06°C in Khulna, Jessore and Chuadanga, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 21.04°C in Tetulia and Dimla.

The sun would set in Dhaka at 6:24pm on Tuesday and rise at 5:30am on Wednesday.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has again issued a three-day heat alert as the ongoing heatwave is expected to continue for the next 72 hours commencing on Monday.
