Momen thanks Jaishankar for successful holding of G20FMM 

C T Online Desk: NEW DELHI, March 3, 2023- Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen met his Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishankar here today.

During the meeting, Momen congratulated Jaishankar on the successful completion of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting concluded here yesterday, diplomatic sources said.

The G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held here this year under India’s presidency with the theme of – “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.

Regarding Bangladesh-India relations, both Momen and Jaishankar expressed satisfaction at the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed various issues of bilateral interest.

Besides, the visiting Bangladesh foreign minister also held bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Brazil, Mexico, Slovenia and Sweden this morning.

During the meetings, they discussed issues of mutual interest to further deepening bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the ongoing geopolitical issues and enhancing multilateral cooperation, including in the UN.

Dr. Momen also briefed his counterparts about Bangladesh’s remarkable progress in the socio-economic sphere under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He sought active support from those countries in addressing the Rohingya crisis including through their early repatriation from Bangladesh to Myanmar.

Bangladesh foreign minister left New Delhi for Doha, Qatar this evening after wrapping up his three-day visit to India to attend the G20 Foreign Minister’s Meeting began here on March 1 at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Apart from joining the G20 FMM, Momen held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of various countries on the sidelines of the meeting when he discussed various bilateral and multilateral issues with his counterparts.

The Bangladesh foreign minister delivered two statements in two sessions of the G20FMM focusing on multilaterism, counter terrorism, climate change and Rohingya repatriation issues.
