Renovation of Kalurghat Bridge begins

C T Online Desk: Carpeting work is being started on the Kalurghat bridge on an emergency basis to avoid the risk of movement of trains and vehicles. According to the Engineering Department of the Eastern Railway, the bridge has been repaired due to the formation of numerous holes in the bridge, which is about a quarter of a kilometer long.

According to the engineering department, 6 hours road surface carpeting work will be done on the Kalurghat bridge between Janalihat-Gomdandi station of Chittagong-Dohazari section on March 14 from 11 pm to 5 am. For this reason, all kinds of vehicles will be stopped on the bridge for 6 hours from 11 pm to 5 am.

The Kalurghat bridge was declared at risk in 2001. Even after that, the vehicles are moving with patchwork. Railway authorities have banned the movement of heavy vehicles over 10 tons across the bridge.
