Journo  torture: CUJ  memorandum demanding arrest of accused

C T Online Desk: The Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Chittagong range demanding the quick arrest of those involved in the kidnapping and beating of journalist Abu Azad in Rangunia. Along with this, the memorandum demanded recovery of illegal weapons used in the abduction and quick submission of charge sheet in the case.

On Thursday (January 12) in the afternoon at Khulshi office in the city, CUJ President Tapan Chakraborty and General Secretary Shamsul Islam, the members of the executive committee submitted  memo  to Chittagong Range DIG Md. Anwar Hossain.

At this time, the Cuj leaders strongly demanded the arrest of the accused, the recovery of illegal weapons and the submission of the charge sheet of the case to the court to ensure justice in the case of kidnapping and torture of journalist Abu Azad.

In the memorandum, it is said that even after 18 days after filing the case of the victim journalist in the case of torture, the main accused UP member Mohiuddin Talukder Mohan and the chairman Sirajuddin Chowdhury  who ordered the beating.  and others were not arrested. The illegal weapon used in the incident was not recovered. On the contrary, the accused in the case are walking around openly and threatening to look at the victim.Meanwhile, DIG of Chittagong. Anwar Hossain said, I have been informed about the matter. I am instructing the concerned police officials to take necessary measures in this regard..Islampur Union Parishad member Mohiuddin Talukder Mohan (40), Chairman Siraj Uddin Chowdhury (55), Itvatar manager Kamran (30), Mohan’s associate Kanchan Turi (30) and 5-7 other armed terrorists were accused in the case.
