C T Online Desk: Although there is not enough storm and rain, the people of Agrabad CDA residential area and Chaktai-Khatunganj, Bakalia, Chowkbazar have suffered due to flooding caused by tidal water of Karnaphuli river.
On Thursday (August 11) afternoon, the people of low-lying areas were in trouble as the tide water rose to the roads and houses during the full moon. Shopkeepers and traders suffered.
Shahjahan Ali, a resident of theAgrabad residential area, said that road numbers 20, 21 and 23 were submerged more during this time. Regular tidal flooding occurs in the area. It is not known when the water drainage will be opened. Meanwhile, the public transport plying on the road is also stuck on the damaged road causing inconvenience to the pedestrians.
Workers and students have to wade through water. Tide water stays for at least three hours. It takes 5-6 hours for the water to move from the low-lying areas.
