India fixed the price of diesel at Tk 92.76 per liter and petrol at Tk 106.03 per liter in Kolkata from May 22. These prices are 114.09 taka and 130.42 taka respectively in Bangladeshi taka. (Tk 1 = average Tk 1.23). Due to the low price, the risk of oil smuggling is 100%. In other Asian countries, diesel is 127 taka in Nepal, 138 taka in Indonesia, 189 taka in Singapore, 118 taka in China, 122.80 taka in United Arab Emirates and 260 taka in Hong Kong. He said other countries have increased their fuel prices long ago. And the Bangladesh government has come with subsidies and also waited for the situation to normalize.
