C T Online Desk: Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) wants to introduce 10 sluice gates at the mouths of various canals in the city next June. However, the biggest obstacle to the introduction of this sluice gate is the manpower crisis.
Kazi Hassan bin Shams, CDA’s chief engineer, said that the opening of these sluice gates would provide a temporary solution to the city’s waterlogging problem.
He said that there is talk of launching 10 completed switch gates. Maybe I’ll be able to launch next June. This will prevent the terrible situation that rain and tidal water create in the city at the same time.
Asked how the manpower crisis was resolved with the introduction of these slit gates, he said a meeting of the CCC-CDA was held last April. It was decided to bring manpower from the Water Development Board for the time being. CCC may be working on this. However, we are preparing to open the sluice gates at least in June.
