C T Online Desk: Wholesale prices of onions are declining due to increase in supply. However, despite the fall in onion prices in the last few days in wholesale, it is not having any effect in the retail market. Traders in Khatunganj say Indian onion imports have been suspended since the first week of this month. Towards the end of onion stocks in traders’ warehouses. Now there are enough stocks of domestic onions. As a result, prices are on the decline. Meanwhile, a search of the wholesale market in Khatunganj yesterday revealed that the price of onion has dropped by Tk 5 in the last few days.
At present, onion is being sold at Tk 32 per kg in Khatunganj. However, onions are currently being sold at Rs 50 per kg in the retail market which is 16 rupees more per kg than the wholesale market.
