C T Online Desk: Jamaat financier and businessman Mansur has been arrested from Teri Bazar in the city. At the same time, 49 people including Jamaat-e-Islami activists including Jamaat-e-Kotwali Amir Faridul Alam have been arrested. Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) South Deputy Commissioner of Police Jasim Uddin said this at a press conference at Kotwali Police Station on Tuesday (May 18). The detainees are- Kotwali Thana Jamaat Amir Md. Farid Alam (48), Kotwali Thana South Branch Chief Coordinator Farid Uddin (44), Baitul Secretary Md. Nurul Kabir (65), office secretary Emdad Ullah (34), Jamaat’s Rokon Saifuddin Khaled (35), Jamaat’s Boksirhat branch general secretary and financier Abul Mansur (50), Teri Bazar branch Jamaat president Md. Humayun Kabir (50), Teri Bazar Katapahar branch Jamaat president Rashedul Karim Rashed (34), vice-president Hafeez Md. Tajul Islam (38), Mohammad Israfil and the remaining 39 Jamaat activists are supporters. Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) South Deputy Commissioner of Police Jasim Uddin told banglanews that 49 Jamaat-Shibir activists were detained in a raid at Al Bayan Hotel in Teri Bazar around 10pm on Monday. Several of them are incumbent leaders of Jamaat. Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Noble Chakma and Senior Assistant Commissioner Mujahidul Islam were present at the press conference. Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahidul Kabir toldĀ that Jamaat leaders and activists were holding a secret meeting in Teri Bazar. Kotwali Thana Jamaat has 16 incumbent leaders including Amir. Among the detainees was moneylender Abul Mansur, a businessman by profession. He has been financing Jamaat-Shibir in various ways for a long time. A case is pending against the detainees. The incumbent leaders will be remanded in court.
