Traffic congestion and extra fare pressure : City-bound people’s sufferings ‘intolerable’in Ctg

C T Online Desk: At the end of Eid holidays, the number of homebound people in the city has come down. City dwellers are getting embarrassed step by step to return to work. On the one hand, the fare is high, on the other hand, the traffic is jammed for hours on end due to speeding in the hope of higher fares.

Before Eid, CNG autorickshaw used to cost 200 taka to reach Chittagong from Banshkhali. After four days of Eid, the fare is being increased from Tk. 200 to Tk. 800 for people to return to work. The buses plying on this road are also crowded with people. Ticket sales were stopped at the counter after 4 pm due to bus crisis.

On this occasion, the drivers of CNG autorickshaws increased the fare four times. There is no one to watch. There is no police presence on the road. On the Banshkhali-Chittagong road, four to five hours of traffic jam every day. Banshkhali police station is next to this road. CNG autorickshaw drivers are causing traffic jams by driving randomly to conduct extra trips. But thousands of passengers were angry as there was no police supervision.
