C T Online Desk: People continued returning to the capital on Friday after celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones at their respective village homes.
They were entering the city by buses, private cars, microbuses, launches and trains through different entry points, including Gabtoli, Sayedabad, Mohakhali, Kamalapur Railway Station and Sadarghat.
The return journey of the Eid holidaymakers is comparatively hassle-free this time compared to previous years.They said they did not suffer any pain on the way back to the capital.
Visiting Kamalapur Railway Station on Friday morning, it was found that thousands of people were arriving from different far-flung areas of the country by intercity trains.
Farhana Yasmin, an employee of a multinational company in the capital who returned to the capital by the train, said it was a little bit painful for her to say goodbye to her parents and come to the city. “But there’s nothing to do for the sake of work. Although the homebound journey was a bit arduous, the return journey was good.”
Hafizur Rahman, who came from Sarishabari of Jamalpur by the same train, said, “I went home a day before Eid despite various hardships. But I work in a private company. My office will reopen tomorrow (Saturday). So, I had to return today.”
He said they faced no sufferings on the way back and got train tickets easily. “I had been able to return comfortably. It would have been better had I been able to stay with my parents for a few more days.”
‘Sirajganj Express’ train entered platform No. 4 of the station around 11:00am. Over 1,500 people entered the capital by the train.
One of them, Hasan Ali, said, “I work for a private organisation. I have to join the work tomorrow (Saturday). So, I had to leave the village home. I had thought the train would be crowded but actually it was not. I had been able to return comfortably.”
Meanwhile, over 200 vehicles, including private cars, were waiting at Banglabazar Ferry Ghat in Madaripur to cross the Padma River on Friday morning.
