C T Online Desk: Police have arrested UP chairman BM Jasim and his son Mushfiqur Uddin in connection with the beating of former president of Patiya’s Haidgaon Union Awami League Jiten Kanti Guha by tying him to a tree.
Patiya Police Station OC (investigation) Rashedul Islam said they were arrested from their home in Haidgaon Union on Saturday (April 30) morning. Awami League leader Jiten Kanti Guha was tied to a tree by the side of the road on Friday (April 29) afternoon and beaten severely as his name was not on the banner of the Union Awami League’s Iftar party at Gauchia Community Center. Hands tied behind his back, no clothes on, bloody Jiten Guha’s picture spread on social media. The incident caused a storm of condemnation.
Tapash Kanti Guha, the brother of the tortured Awami League leader, said his brother had to undergo a few stitches as his head was torn off. In addition, two arms were broken and the right leg was injured. He is undergoing treatment at CMC Hospital.
