C T Online Desk: April 25, 2022- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over
32,904 houses to landless and homeless families under the third phase of
Ashrayan-2 Project on Tuesday (April 26) ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually hand over deeds and keys of
houses to the landless and homeless people on Tuesday,” Senior Secretary of
Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah told reporters at a
press briefing here on Sunday at the PMO.
The premier will be connected virtually from her official Ganabhaban
residence with four places in four districts under the project, he mentioned.
The places are Poradia Ashrayan Project under Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur
district, Khajurtola Ashrayan Project under Barguna Sadar upazila of Barguna
district, Khokshabari Ashrayan Project under Sirajganj Sadar Upazila of
Sirajganj district and Hajigaon Ashrayan Project under Anwara Upazila of
Chattogram district.
Tofazzel Hossain Miah said a total of 65,674 more single houses will be
handed over under the third phase of Ashrayan-2 Project.
Under the project, ownership of land and house is being given in the joint
names of husband and wife of landless, homeless, miserable and uprooted
families, he mentioned.
He said that at the third phase of Ashrayan-2, the government has raised the
cost and brought changes in design to make the houses more sustainable and
climate-resilient.
