C T Online Desk: Chittagong WASA has stopped the construction of deep tube wells by the lawyers’ association by cutting the road at Court Hill in the city. At around 3 pm on Sunday (April 17), WASA’s chief revenue officer, CMP, along with police, tried to obstruct the installation of a deep tube well.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said WASA permission was required to extract tube wells or water in the Chittagong City Corporation area. But the leaders of the Bar Association are installing deep tube wells in the ‘fairy hill’ without any permission to evade the revenue. Which is extremely risky for this mountain.
Leaders of the Bar Association disobeyed the order of the Magistrate, Police and Chittagong Wasa officials not to install this deep tube well. We have written to the higher authorities of the government to take legal action in this regard. “We have requested WASA so that no one can install deep tube wells in the area,” he said.
WASA officials say that without the approval of WASA and the concerned legal authorities, the bar association is working to install deep tube wells in the risky hillside on the side of the road in front of the bar building. WASA will take legal action in this regard, a sources said.
