C T Online Desk: The overall number of Covid-19 cases has surged past 504 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the total case count mounted to 504,569,964 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,198,235 on Monday morning.
The US has recorded 80,632,301cases so far and 988,618 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.
India’s Covid-19 tally rose to 43,042,097 on Monday, showed the federal health ministry’s latest data.
Besides, the total death toll in India since Monday morning was 521,781.
Bangladesh logged 51 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours till Sunday morning, taking the total caseload to 19,52,275.
As per the latest government data, the country’s total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,124 as no deaths were reported during the period. The daily positivity rate increased to 1.28 per cent from Friday’s 0.64 per cent after testing 3,994 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
