Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sought Japan’s co-operation to modernise Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) and explore the establishment of a second fertiliser factory in Bangladesh.
He made the request during a meeting with Marubeni Corporation Chairman Masumi Kakinoki in Tokyo, where they discussed boosting Japanese investment in Bangladesh’s ICT, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Tarique Rahman highlighted the government’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment through regulatory reforms, simplified approval procedures and stronger public-private partnerships.
Kakinoki expressed optimism that the effective implementation of the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) would expand trade, attract investment and create new business opportunities.
The Prime Minister arrived in Tokyo earlier for a four-day official visit, leading a 16-member high-level delegation.
