Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will leave for Japan tonight on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

During the visit, he will hold bilateral talks with Takaichi on October 27, address the Japan-Bangladesh Economic Forum and meet Japanese business leaders to strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation.

Discussions will focus on implementing the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), attracting Japanese investment, expanding market access for Bangladeshi products and accelerating development projects.

The two sides are also expected to explore cooperation in energy, agriculture, technology, skills development, human resources and infrastructure. Several memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements are under discussion, with some expected to be signed during the visit.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit Japanese industrial and energy facilities, including an LNG terminal and power plant in Futtsu, as well as facilities associated with UNIQLO and Toyota.

The visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan, a key development partner since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972.
