Rail communication between Dhaka and Chattogram was disrupted after three coaches of the Karnaphuli Express derailed in Laksham, Cumilla. No casualties have been reported so far.

The accident occurred at around 12:30pm on Wednesday in the Azgora area of Laksham upazila.

Following the derailment, train movement on the down line was suspended, while services on the up line continued as normal.

Rajib Chandra Kar, officer-in-charge of Laksham Railway Police Station, confirmed the incident.

Further details regarding the recovery operation and the resumption of normal train services were not immediately available.
