The reason why he didn’t win is still unknown. However, Trishal Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hasnat Jahan Khan, learning from his own bitter experience, did not let other players be deprived of what they deserve.
Recently, the District Commissioner officially distributed the prize money to the players of the Trishal Upazila team, who finished as runners-up in the Gold Cup Football Tournament.
On behalf of the Trishal Upazila administration, UNO Hasnat Jahan Khan, on his own responsibility, handed over the money due to all the team players.
At that time, he recalled his playing career and said, ‘I did not let what happened to me happen to others’. Although he participated in many games in his life and became a champion and runner-up, he never received prize money. However, he seriously considered the issue that the experience that happened to him should not happen to other players.
He also said that the hard work, time and sacrifice of the players should be properly evaluated. Along with playing well on the field, it is also the responsibility of those concerned to ensure that a player gets the respect and rewards he deserves.
Receiving the prize money also created satisfaction and joy among the players. They welcomed the initiative of the upazila administration and said that receiving the well-deserved award in recognition of their performance on the field will further encourage them.
Meanwhile, local sports enthusiasts have expressed gratitude to the district administration and Trishal Upazila administration for properly disbursing the money due to the players. Those concerned believe that such initiatives to ensure the respect and due rights of the players will further encourage sports practice at the local level.
