C T Online Desk: Noakhali Correspondent: Students of Noakhali Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) have protested to prevent the joining of a person named Md. Kamrul Hasan, who was transferred to the vacant post of administrative officer of Noakhali Medical Assistant Training School (MATS). On Tuesday (June 9), the students boycotted classes in front of the MATS administrative office from 11 am to 1 pm and observed the program for the second day. In the situation that arose, the authorities refrained from accepting the joining letter of Md. Kamrul Islam, who was transferred to the post of administrative officer.
The protesting students said that on Wednesday, an official order signed by the Director (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Md. Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, transferred Md. Kamrul Hasan, the administrative officer of Comilla Medical Assistant Training School, to Noakhali MATS. The officer was working in Noakhali during the previous Awami League government. At that time, due to various corruption and irregularities, he was transferred to Comilla Medical Assistant Training School after August 5. But he was transferred to this institution again in view of a suspended appointment at Noakhali MATS. Which ordinary students will not accept.
At that time, the students declared administrative officer Kamrul Hasan as undesirable and shouted various slogans. They called him an ally of the previous government and staged protest marches, human chains and sit-in programs against him. Earlier, last Monday, the students met MATS Principal Dr. Shayla Sultana Jhuma and requested not to allow the transfer of corrupt administrative officer Kamrul Hasan to join. MATS students Yasin Arafat Sabbir, Mahbub Alam Shanto, Kazi Abdullah Al Afif, Hafiz Ali, Arafat Hossain and many others were present at the protest rally.
MATS Noakhali Principal Shayla Sultana Jhuma said that students have been protesting by boycotting classes for the last two days over the appointment of Kamrul Hasan as an administrative officer. Also, around 11 am yesterday, Kamrul Hasan came to join his post with a group. At that time, the people with him misbehaved with him. He became frightened. He also informed them about the students’ movement and the opinion of DAB. In the emerging situation, he confirmed that he had spoken to the higher authorities and suspended the joining for the time being.
Meanwhile, administrative officer Kamrul Islam denied the allegations and said that he was not allowed to join illegally. However, he submitted the necessary documents to the office. He also denied the allegations of getting into an argument with the principal and applying pressure with a group while joining.
