C T Online Desk: May 24, 2026 – Preparations have been completed for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festivity of the Muslims. Over 3,637 Eidgahs in the port city and its adjacent district will host congregations amid tight security measures.
This year, 268 Eid congregations are scheduled to be held at traditional and temporary venues in the city under the supervision of Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).
The local administration, CCC, and CCEJC are overseeing the construction and decoration of Eid venues in the city to ensure a peaceful and solemn celebration of the festival. The Chattogram district administration, Metropolitan Police, and other religious organizations are working together for the successful organization of the Eid events.
CCEJC has finalized plans to hold a total of 96 Eid congregations at different venues in the city between 8 am to 8:30 am.
The preparations aim to ensure a smooth and religiously fervent celebration of Eid-ul-Azha in Chattogram.
The main Eid congregation of CCEJC will be held at MA Aziz stadium at 8 am tomorrow, Saled Ahmed Solaiman, general secretary of CCEJ, told BSS.
Other main Eid Jamaats will take place at various venues including Andarkillah Shahi Jame Mosque, Laldighi Maidan, Parade ground, Pologround Maidan, Shah Amanat Shah (R) Dargah Maidan, Port Colony Jam-e-Mosque, Metropolitan Police line Maidan, Agrabad Jamboree field, and Baizeed Bostami (R) Dargah maidan simultaneously.
CCC will organize a total of 166 Eid congregations across its 41 Wards under the supervision of the respective ward Councilors. This decision was made during a coordination meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner Conference room and CCC auditorium on Saturday.
The preparatory meeting chaired by Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee President and Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, with the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioners Md. Sharif Uddin and Pathan Md. Saiduzzaman, finalized the arrangements for the Eid congregations.
Two grand Eid Jamaats under CCC will be held at Jamiatul Falah Complex Mosque at 7.30 am and 8 am.
The national flag will be hoisted on all government and private buildings, special prayers will be offered at all Eid-ul-Azha congregations, and improved diets will be provided to inmates of hospitals, orphanages, jails, and Shishu Paribars on Eid day.
Upazila administrations and district authorities have completed preparations for a total of 3369 Eid congregations at various venues in the 15 upazilas of the district. These congregations will take place from 7.30 am to 8.15 am.
Muslim devotees are expected to participate in the Eid-ul-Azha congregations, offering special prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity of the country, its people, and the Muslim Ummah.
