Four Hundred Patients Received Free Eye Treatment In Noakhali

C T Online Desk: Golam Rabbani, Noakhali Correspondent :  More than 400 patients were provided free eye treatment in Noakhali’s Sadar Upazila. The day-long eye treatment program was held on the premises of Bandherhat Noannai Union High School in the upazila on Sunday. At this time, ophthalmologists from Chandpur Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital provided services at the eye treatment camp organized by the 40-year-old social volunteer organization Bandherhat Vidyotsahi Sangha.

It is learned that this treatment program ran from 9 am to 3 pm. About 400 patients were given eye treatment certificates, 300 patients were given eye drops and other medicines. During this time, 22 patients with cataracts were initially selected and transported to Chandpur BNSB Eye Hospital for artificial lens replacement through surgery. At the inauguration ceremony of the eye treatment camp, the organization’s president, Md. Under the chairmanship of Aji Ulya Bhuiyan and moderated by General Secretary Md. Mozammel Hossain, the speeches were delivered by Dr. Mohammad Saif Uddin, Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery, Noakhali Medical College Hospital, and Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Noakhali District Social Service Officer.

Also present at the event were Noannoi Union High School Headmaster Md. Mozammel Hossain, Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital Senior Public Relations Officer Md. Abu Zafar, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Towhidul Haque Mahfuz, the organization’s Organizing Secretary Imtiaz Md. Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, Sports and Social Service Secretary Hosne Elahi Shaki and many others.

Bandherhat Vidyotsahi Sangha President Ozi Ullah Bhuiyan said, “The 19th eye camp has been organized considering the suffering of helpless people. The Chandpur BNSB Eye Hospital authorities have fully supported this. This is our effort to save those who cannot have cataract surgery due to lack of money from blindness. InshaAllah, our efforts will continue as long as we live.”
