C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : Police have solved the mystery of the murder of 3-year-old Labib in Trishal, Mymensingh. Within just a few hours of the incident, Trishal police arrested the murderer’s father, Sohag Mia, and his stepmother, Zakia Akhter. During initial interrogation, the murderer confessed to strangling his child to death.
According to police and local sources, the mother of deceased Labib, Lamia, had been staying at her father’s house for a long time due to a family dispute. Last Wednesday (April 1) at around 1 pm, her father, Sohag Mia, went to his in-laws’ house and brought the child Labib to his house. The plan was to return the child to his maternal grandfather’s house that evening.
But in the evening, instead of delivering the child to his grandmother’s house, locals found the child’s lifeless body lying on the side of a road in the upazila’s Rayer village area. Upon receiving the information, Trishal police quickly reached the spot, recovered the body and brought it to the police station.
Immediately after the murder, multiple police teams launched a drive to catch the criminals. On Thursday (April 2), around 3 am, Sohag Mia (30) and his accomplice Zakia Akhtar (28), who were hiding, were arrested from Bakhura village in Jessora union of Gafargaon police station.
During the initial interrogation, Sohag Mia confessed that he had planned to strangle his child and leave his body on the side of the road before fleeing. Lamia, the mother of the child who died in this brutal incident, has filed a murder case with Trishal Police Station.
Trishal police said that the arrested Sohag Mia has been sent to the court to give a confessional statement and the other accused Zakia Akhter has been sent to jail through legal process. The child’s body has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Further legal proceedings in this regard are under process.
