Cottage & small scale industry fair begins in Port city

C T Online Desk: Chittagong Press Club President Ali Abbas has called for buying local clothes this Eid in the interest of keeping the local weaving and jamdani industry alive. He made the call while addressing the inaugural function of the month-long Weaving, Jamdani and Small Industries Fair at the GEC Convention Center premises in the city on Wednesday.

General Secretary of Chittagong Press Club Chowdhury Farid, cottage industrialist and businessman Hannan Sikder, joint general secretary of Nagar Swechchhasebak League Mohammad Saifuddin and others were present at the inaugural function. The chief guest said the country’s small scale industries had almost shut down due to the Corona epidemic in the last two years.

Now they are struggling to get up again. At this time, it is our responsibility to cooperate with them. After cutting the ribbon and inaugurating the fair, the guests toured the various stalls of the fair. This year’s fair has stalls of famous Jamdani sari, weaving and desi thrips, Punjabi, various garments, earthenware products and various household items. The fair will continue till moon night of Eidul Fitr.
