Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton wins Trishal by a huge margin

C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : BNP National Executive Committee member Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton has been unofficially elected from constituency number 152, Mymensingh-7 (Trishal) in the 13th National Parliament election. He won by securing 98,221 votes according to the final results announced by the office of the Assistant Returning Officer.

His closest rival, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and 10-party alliance candidate Asaduzzaman Sohel (Daripalla), received 83,617 votes. As a result, the difference in votes between the two candidates stood at 14,604. According to the office of the Assistant Returning Officer, a total of 6 candidates contested for the post of Member of Parliament in this constituency. Among the other candidates, independent candidate Anwar Sadat (cup-plate) received 32,995 votes, Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Ibrahim Khalil Ullah (fan) received 4,006 votes, independent candidate Engineer Joynal Abedin (motorcycle) received 1,030 votes and Jatiya Party candidate (plough) received 537 votes.

According to the Election Commission, the total number of voters in 121 polling stations was 4,32,349. Out of these, 2,26,383 people exercised their right to vote. The voter turnout was 56.65 percent.

In the simultaneous referendum, 14,715 ‘yes’ votes were cast and 44,786 ‘no’ votes were cast. In addition, 3,610 votes were received through postal ballots. Assistant Returning Officer Arafat Siddiqui announced the results of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 from the Upazila Election Control Room.
