Bangladesh has already started importing wheat from the United States on a government-to-government (G2G) contract basis.

Under the G2G-2 agreement, a total of 2,20,000 tonnes of wheat will be imported. Meanwhile, 1,14,093 tonnes have already arrived in the country through the first two shipments.

Earlier, under the G2G-1 agreement, a total of 2,20,000 tonnes of wheat were imported.

The process of testing samples of the wheat stored on the vessel has already begun. After the completion of testing, necessary measures will be taken to unload the wheat promptly, the food ministry added.
