Month-long flower festival begins in Ctg on Jan 9

C T Online Desk: Jan 7, 2026- A month-long flower festival is set to begin
at Faujdarhat DC Park in Sitakunda upazila of the district on Friday (January
9).

This festival, organised by the district administration for the fourth time,
will showcase millions of flowers from around 140 species of domestic and
foreign varieties.

The festival will run from January 9 to February 8, with daily hours from 10
am to 8 pm. Cultural programmes will also be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on the
fair premises.

Entry tickets are priced at Taka 50 per person and can be purchased at the
ticket counter or online through the https://dcparkchattogram.com/web/
website.

The flower festival is just one of the many events happening at the park.
Other attractions include a multicultural festival, cultural programmes,
rural fairs, pitha, book and kite festivals, and traditional celebrations.

The park spans 194 acres along the seashore and is adorned with colorful
flowers like dahlias, ganda, chrysanthemums, and roses. The ambiance is
filled with bird songs, rural traditions and the sight of palm trees.

The park showcases a variety of local and foreign flowers, emphasizing
biodiversity and nature conservation. Visitors are already enjoying the
park’s offerings, which include a food court, seating areas, a selfie corner,
event venues, a floating flower garden, walking paths, playgrounds, a VIP
zone, a control room, a restaurant, and public toilets.

Additionally, there are spots for sunset viewing, a tulip garden, and
temporary play areas.

A new zip line has been added to the flower festival venue, enhancing the
visitor experience. The cultural programme has been diversified to offer a
range of entertainment options. The beauty of the flower festival is enhanced
in the evening with the colorful lights illuminating the park.

The flower festival, organised by the Chattogram District Administration,
initially took place at DC Park from February 9 to February 18, 2023.
Following its success, a month-long festival was held on January 25, 2024,
featuring 127 types of flowers. Subsequently, on January 4, 2025, the park
showcased 136 types of flowers, attracting a large number of visitors. This
year, the park is adorned with over 140 types of flowers for the month-long
event.

The district administration anticipates a significant turnout for this year’s
festival and encourages the public to participate in the various activities.

The park has transformed into a vibrant ecosystem with the addition of
flowers and water bodies, attracting butterflies, bees, grasshoppers,
pancouri, and colorful fish. The festival will showcase a variety of foreign
winter flower species, including 25 types of roses, stocks, gazania, and
camellia.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah mentioned that the park is
adorned with 140 species of flowers in different colors such as hollyhock,
snowbuck, nestium, lily, dahlia, chrysanthemum, and tulips for the festival.

“Cultural programmes will be held daily throughout the month-long event, with
performances by cultural groups from various districts and upazilas. Other
attractions include rural festivals, pitha festivals, book festivals and kite
festivals,” he said.

Special events during the festival will include cultural performances, violin
shows, qawwali evenings, and a stall on the referendum in the elections.

Students from 16 countries residing in Bangladesh will showcase their
cultures, along with traditional festivals of the country.

The park, located in the Faujdarhat section of the Bandar Link Road near
Chattogram city, was previously a sanctuary for drug addicts. The Chattogram
District Administration reclaimed 194.18 acres of khas land in Salimpur,
Sitakunda, and transformed it into the DC Park. Since its establishment, the
park has become a popular destination for city residents seeking
entertainment and leisure.
