C T Online Desk: The Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Dr. Shahadat Hossain has called on affluent members of the society, political and social organisations and corporate institutions to step up and assist those in need during the cold weather.
He emphasized collective effort to support vulnerable populations, particularly climate migrants and the poor, who are disproportionately affected by harsh conditions. Collective social efforts are essential to address this issue effectively.
The mayor made these remarks as the chief guest at a winter clothes distribution event for sanitation workers organised by the CCC at the Jamiatul Falah Jame Mosque in the city.
He distributed winter clothes to 410 workers from 41 wards and announced that all 2,500 workers in the management department will receive winter clothes gradually.
The mayor also mentioned plans to construct residential buildings for the sanitation workers, emphasizing the importance of improving their livelihood and ensuring their dignity.
Addressing the cleaning workers, he emphasized the importance of working with a sense of responsibility and humanity towards the city of Chattogram. Dr. Shahadat highlighted that cleanliness is not just a job of duty but a reflection of sincerity and care for the community.
He praised the cleaning workers as the unsung heroes of city management, whose efforts contribute to creating a healthy and safe environment for the residents and acknowledged their hard work and dedication.
Furthermore, the mayor shared his personal initiative of distributing winter clothes to the cold-stricken people in different areas of the city every night, with the support of compassionate individuals in society.
The event was attended by Chief Conservancy Officer Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Conservancy Officer Pranab Kumar Sharma, Malaria and Mosquito Control Officer Md. Sharful Islam Mahi, Mayor’s Personal Assistant Ziaur Rahman Zia and other CCC officials.
