C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : The great Victory Day was celebrated with due dignity and solemnity in Trishal, Mymensingh. On the occasion of the day, various day-long programs were organized by the Trishal Upazila administration.
The program began with the hoisting of the national flag at the Trishal Upazila Parishad premises at sunrise on the morning of December 16. After that, wreaths were laid at the Trishal Central Memorial to pay deep respect to the martyred freedom fighters, the best sons of the nation.
Present at the event were officials of the upazila administration, officials of Trishal Police Station, representatives of Trishal Municipality, leaders of the upazila and union level Muktijoddha Sangsad, Muktijoddha Command Council Trishal, officials and employees of various government, semi-government, autonomous and private organizations, leaders and activists of various political parties, and journalists from the upazila press club, as well as local journalists.
A parade was held at the Government Nazrul Academy grounds to mark the day. After visiting the parade, the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) in his speech as the guest of honor at the discussion meeting remembered the brave martyrs of the great Liberation War as well as the martyrs killed in the July Uprising with deep respect. He said, everyone should work together to build a just, non-discriminatory and prosperous Bangladesh by embodying the spirit of the martyrs’ sacrifice.
At the discussion meeting, he said that the independence achieved on December 16, 1971, at the cost of the sacrifices of millions of martyrs, is a glorious chapter in the history of the Bengali nation. They urged everyone to play a role in building the country, inspired by the spirit of the Liberation War.
As part of the day-long program, a prayer meeting and special prayers were held after the discussion meeting. During this time, prayers were offered for the souls of the martyred freedom fighters and July martyrs, the best sons of the nation.
