C T Online Desk:Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : A family has been accused of being attacked and threatened with death over a long-standing land dispute in Madhupur Bazar of Ishwarganj Upazila of Mymensingh. The victim family, general traders of the market and locals, who are suffering from insecurity in this incident, formed a human chain in front of the disputed area on Monday afternoon.
Victim Abdul Mannan alias Mannas (56) said, “I have been in a long-standing dispute with Abdul Latif Bhuiyan’s son Jamal Bhuiyan over my ancestral property. In 2021, Jamal Bhuiyan filed a different type of case in the Ishwarganj learned assistant judge’s court. Later, the learned court rejected his application and ruled in our favor. But even then, he continued to try to seize our land.”
He further alleged, “Ashraf Uddin Akand, Moti Mia and their associates from Nandail Upazila, who have no connection with this land, have also been involved in this. They are constantly intimidating us and threatening to kill us. I have also filed a general diary with Ishwarganj Police Station on November 4 in this regard. Even then, the threats are not stopping. We are now in a completely insecure state.”
Businessmen and locals present at the human chain complained that the opponents are repeatedly trying to forcefully enter the land and are threatening to intimidate and attack if they resist. The family was forced to form a human chain after attempts to resolve the issue through local public representatives failed. They said, “We want the affected family to live safely and get their ancestral property back. The administration needs to intervene quickly to prevent any deterioration in law and order.”
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwarganj Police Station Md. Obaidur Rahman said, “The Beat Officer has been given the responsibility to investigate the issue of human chain. Necessary legal action will be taken after the investigation
