C T Online Desk: Zaman Hotel and Biryani House at Agra’s Sizzle Factory and GEC Junction has been fined Rs 1.5 lakh for producing sweets and bakery products in unhygienic, dirty and smelly environment and not certifying the health of the workers. The fine was imposed on Monday (April 4) in an operation led by Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nelly. CCC’s public relations officer confirmed the matter. He said Kabir Crockery Store was fined Tk 5,000 for occupying the sidewalk at Chaumuhani intersection in addition to Sijal and Zaman hotels.
In another operation led by Special Magistrate Manisha Mahajan, 11 shopkeepers were fined Tk 31,000 for obstructing the movement of people by occupying sidewalks, drains and roads on Sagarika Road and Bepari Para Road in the city. The owner of Messrs. Regal Hotel and Restaurant on West Madarbari DT Road of Sadarghat Police Station was fined Tk 12,000 in a case filed by the Safe Food Inspector of Chittagong City Corporation. Officers and employees of the concerned department of CCC and members of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) assisted in the operation.
