C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : A model mosque has been opened for worshippers to offer prayers in Trishal, Mymensingh.
The mosque was opened during Friday prayers (November 7). The construction of this mosque began during the previous government’s tenure as part of the establishment of 560 model mosques and cultural centers in every upazila across the country.
At that time, he addressed the Muslims, Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari, BNP Central Committee Member Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton, Hefazat-e-Islam Trishal Upazila Branch President Ibrahim Khalil, Khelafat Majlis Trishal Upazila President Abu Taher, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Trishal Municipal Branch Secretary Enamul Haque, etc. Mufti Afzal Hossain delivered the sermon during the holy Friday prayers.
Jahangir Alam, director of the Islamic Foundation of Trishal Upazila, said,
This four-story mosque will be able to accommodate 1,200 worshippers at a time. On the other hand, the three-story model mosques will have a capacity for 900 worshippers to pray at a time.
Apart from this, the mosque has a Hifzkhana for practicing the Holy Quran, a training center for pilgrims and imams, and an Islamic library modeled after the Prophet’s Mosque for the worshippers to gain knowledge. An Islamic Cultural Center has been set up in a separate building within the mosque complex. It will house the Islamic Foundation’s district and upazila level offices, a conference hall, a research room, a disabled corner, pre-registration for pilgrims, and accommodation for domestic and foreign tourists.
