C T Online Desk: Mahmud Foysal, Staff Reporter : With the vision of building an inclusive, aware, and democratic digital Bangladesh, the ‘Swadhinata Project’ has officially commenced its activities in Chattogram. On Friday (October 31), a three-day divisional training workshop was inaugurated at Hotel Saikat, Chattogram, with the participation of 32 youth organizers, journalists, human rights defenders, and online activists. The event was inaugurated by Syed Shahid Uddin, Deputy Director of the NGO PROTTYASHI.
Funded by the European Union, lead by Plan International Bangladesh, and implemented by the ‘Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF)’ PROTTYASHI is responsible for carrying out the project activities in the Chattogram region. The project will continue until 2028.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Nasrin Nahar, Program Specialist (Gender, Diversity, Inclusion and Protection – GDIP); Wasiur Rahman Tanmoy, Lead (Youth and Social Cohesion), Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF); and Tanvir Hossain, Deputy Assistant Director (Business Development and Partnership) PROTTYASHI.
Also present were Nadim Hossain (Media and Communication Officer), PROTTYASHI, and Nusrat Fatima, Project Officer (Media and Communication), Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF). The workshop was moderated by Makhnun Sultana, Prottyashi Program Officer of the Swadhinata Project
Over the course of three days, sessions covered topics such as citizens rights, human rights, freedom of expression, misinformation, and disinformation. The sessions were facilitated by Osman Goni (HRD, PROTTYASHI), Samiha Salam (PACA Focal), Md. Nafsin Mabud Ifty, Assistant Program Officer (Business Development and Partnership), and Selina Dida (Upazila Program Coordinator), among others.
Through the training, participants gained a deeper understanding of digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible information sharing. The organizers expressed hope that, with the support of PROTTYASHI, the Swadhinata Project will play a vital role in fostering youth leadership and strengthening democratic values in society.
