C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : There have been reports of a conflict between UNO and PIO over the distribution of TR Kabikhar’s Tk 4 crore project in Ishwarganj, Mymensingh.
On Tuesday (October 28), various UP chairmen of the upazila filed a written complaint with the District Commissioner against Rezaul Karim, the Project Implementation Officer of Ishwarganj Upazila, alleging that he collected 25% cash bribes and 15% VAT, income tax and an additional 3,000 taka per project in the name of depositing the master roll of each project without government rules in the Rural Infrastructure Maintenance (TR) and Rural Infrastructure Renovation Kabikha/Kabita 2024-2025 fiscal year projects.
When asked about this, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Rezaul Karim said, “Last Friday, in my absence, UNO Sanjida Rahman Sir and her Nazir Mazhar Karim sat in my office and prepared a list of projects worth Tk 4 crore and asked me to sign the list. The UNO Sir got angry with me when I said to sort through the list of projects and sign them.”
When asked about this from UNO Sanjida Rahman, she said that 80 percent of the projects worth Tk 4 crore are implemented according to the rules of the union chairmen’s list. 20 percent are projects of the Upazila Parishad. When the PIO was asked to sign the list of these projects, he refused to sign.
When asked about preparing the list while sitting in the Project Implementation Officer’s office on a closed day, he said, “I can go to the PIO office.”
