CA returns to Dhaka after attending UNGA summit

C T Online Desk: He left Dhaka to join UNGA’s 80th annual session on 22 September.

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has reached the capital after attending the UN General Assembly summit in New York.

He landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9am on an Emirates Airlines flight.

Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative at UN Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, and Bangladesh Ambassador to US Tareq Md Ariful Islam saw him off at the John F Kennedy Airport when the flight took off around 11pm on Wednesday local time.

Prof Yunus began his UNGA tour on 22 September, concluding it with his attendance at the high-level conference on the “Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities” held at the UN General Assembly Hall on Tuesday.

He delivered his address at the 80th UNGA on 26 September and held a series of meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the session.

Political leaders accompanied Prof Yunus during the New York tour.

The political delegation included BNP Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP leader Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syeed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Jamaat’s US spokesperson Mohammad Nakibur Rahman, National Citizen Party Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, and First Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara.
