C T Online Desk: Shahadat Hossain from Dagonbhuiyan (Feni): Two murders took place in Dagonbhuiyan within a week. Mohammad Alamgir (49) of Jagatpur village in the municipality was hacked to death by his wife Khaleda Yasmin on Tuesday morning. On the other hand, on Tuesday night, a housewife from Aman Ullahpur village in the municipality was allegedly killed by her husband by smothering her with a pillow.
According to the police and the family of the deceased, Alamgir, son of Abdul Gafur Bhandari of Jagatpur village in the municipality, was hacked to death by his wife Khaleda Yasmin and dumped the body in the bathroom due to a family dispute that morning. When the locals informed the police, the police recovered the body of the deceased from the scene and sent it to the Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy. At that time, the killer’s wife was arrested and brought to the police station. The killer Khaleda confessed to killing her husband. The mother of the deceased, Zohra Khatun, said, “My son has married three times. He is a truck driver by profession. She has a 17-year-old son named Nirab. She married him in 2002. Despite providing proper maintenance, he did not give my son peace. That morning, he killed my son and threw his body in the bathroom. And shouted, “I killed him.” I want the execution of the killer Khaleda, who killed my son, and broke down in tears repeatedly. A local man named Sahab Uddin said, “Alamgir was a good man. He always prayed in the mosque. I often saw him leaving the truck on the road and taking it home to the market.”
On the other hand, last Tuesday night, Abul Hasnat, son of Obaidul Haque, a resident of the municipality’s Aman Ullah Pur village, and his family killed his wife Jasmine Akhter by smothering her with a pillow and making it look like suicide. The next morning, the police recovered the body of the deceased and sent it to the Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy. After the autopsy, the deceased’s body was buried in the family graveyard after the funeral prayer at the door of his house in Gopalpur village of Senbagh after Maghrib prayers.
The deceased’s father, Shahjahan, said, “My daughter called at 8 pm to say that her husband and his family beat her up for demanding five lakh taka dowry. At 12 midnight that day, Hasnat called me and told me to go to their house with two people in the morning. When I reached the spot, I saw my daughter’s body. I am preparing to file a case in court.
Police Station (OC) Mohammad Wahid Parvez said, wife Khaleda has confessed to killing her husband. I have handed her over to the court. We have sent the body of the deceased to the morgue for autopsy. Preparations are underway to file a case. On the other hand, a case of accidental death has been registered at the police station in the case of Jasmine’s death. The real cause of the incident will be known once the autopsy report is received.
