Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haq Nur has travelled to Singapore for advanced medical treatment.

He left Dhaka at 8:25am on Monday aboard a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Nur is accompanied by his personal physician, Associate Professor Dr Sajjad Hossain Russel of the Department of Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU).

According to party sources, Nur will undergo treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. The government will bear the costs of his medical care.

On 29 August, Nur, along with several party leaders and activists, was injured during a police baton charge in front of the party’s central office in Bijoynagar, Dhaka. He was rushed to hospital by fellow leaders immediately after the incident.

Multiple videos circulated on social media showed Nur bleeding heavily from his face down to his chest. He regained consciousness the following morning and subsequently received hospital care for over two weeks.
