C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh: An interfaith dialogue was held in Trishal, Mymensingh, with the theme ‘Build a Bangladesh of peace and harmony, not conflict’.
The dialogue was held at the Rashedul Islam Conference Hall of the Upazila Parishad on Tuesday (September 16) afternoon, organized by the Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) Trishal branch, inspired by The Hunger Project Bangladesh.
Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari was the chief guest.
Under the chairmanship of PFG Trishal branch coordinator and former president of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Eshal Upazila branch Mosharraf Hossain and moderated by Trishal Women’s Degree College Assistant Professor Khabiruzzaman, the event featured special guests including Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mansur Ahmed, Upazila Press Club Trishal President Sarwar Jahan Jewel, Anti-Discrimination Movement Coordinator Engineer Jihad Chowdhury, etc. The welcome address was delivered by The Hunger Project Bangladesh Mymensingh Field Coordinator Aktaruzzaman.
Also present were Imams and Khatibs of various mosques in Trishal Upazila, heads of various educational institutions, responsible persons of various puja mandap, and journalists from print and electronic media.
The speakers in the dialogue said that there is no such thing as minority and majority in this country. People of all religions will practice their own religion freely. By ensuring social harmony through mutual trust and belief, it is possible to make Trishal Upazila a shining example of harmony. They also pledged to build a violence-free, dignified, safe and diverse Trishal.
