Mymensingh National Poet’s death anniversary observed

C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : The 49th death anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam has been observed in Trishal, Mymensingh.

On Sunday (August 31) evening, a memorial meeting and prayer mahfil were held on this occasion at the Press Club office located at the Trishal bus stand, organized by the Upazila Press Club Trishal.

The main discussant was Rashedul Anam, Assistant Director of the Institute of Nazrul Studies at National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University.

Under the chairmanship of Upazila Press Club President Sarwar Jahan Jewel and moderated by Honorable Member-1 Nazmul Hasan Jibon, the special discussant was AKM Kamrul Hasan, former headmaster (acting) of Government Nazrul Academy.

Press Club General Secretary Anam Tarek Hasan Babu Sarkar extended his greetings.

Journalists Shariful Islam, Hanif Akand, Abdul Quader, Nurul Amin Dara, Asadul Islam Mintu, Abu Raihan Sajib, Mostakim Billah Raju and others were also present.

Highlighting the poet’s life and work, the main speaker at the memorial meeting, Rashedul Anam, said, “Poet Nazrul was an incredibly talented poet with a non-communal spirit. He had a diverse life. We got that through his creations and work.”

Expressing gratitude to Kazi Rafizullah Daroga, the speakers said that if Kazi Rafizullah Daroga had not discovered the talent of the then Dukhumiya and brought him from Asansol in Kolkata to Trishal, there is considerable doubt as to whether he would have become a national poet or not.

They also thanked the Upazila Press Club Trishal for organizing the memorial service and prayer mahfil on the poet’s death anniversary.

At the end of the meeting, a special prayer was offered for the forgiveness of the poet’s departed soul.
