Adviser Mahfuz Alam’s father elected Union BNP secretary in Ramganj

C T Online Desk: Azizur Rahman Bachchu, father of interim government adviser Mahfuz Alam, has been elected general secretary of the BNP’s Ichhapur Union unit in Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur.

He was elected to the position through votes cast by the union members.

Running with the rooster symbol, Bacchu received 266 votes. He previously served as vice-president of the Ichapur Union BNP.

Md Oli Ullah won the position of union president, securing 255 votes with the umbrella symbol, while Jahangir Alam Samrat was elected organisational secretary after receiving 241 votes with the fish symbol.

The voting took place on Thursday (21 August) afternoon at Srirampur High School in Ichapur Union, with a total of 453 voters casting their ballots.

BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie attended the representative election as chief guest. Special guests included district BNP Member Secretary Shahab Uddin Sabu, Joint Convenor Advocate Hasibur Rahman, BFF Vice-President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, BLDP Chairman and 12-party alliance spokesperson Shahadat Hossain Selim, former Central Jubo Dal Vice-President Imam Hossain, former Dhaka Metropolitan BNP Senior Vice-President L Rahman, among others.
