The Divisional Commissioner said, the metaphor of ‘Bengali with fish and rice’ is a common part of Bengali ethnicity. Fish has been the main ingredient in the diet of the people of this region since ancient times. Fish is one of the safest foods in terms of health. Fish fat is safe for the body. Farmed fish meets about 60% of the country’s fish demand.

It has been found that metal elements are found in fish food, which are very harmful to the human body. Such toxic elements should be excluded from the list of foods given to fish. He said that there are about two lakh fish farmers in Mymensingh division. The growth of fish farming and fish farmers in this division is very promising. Steps should be taken to export fish cultivated in Mymensingh to the country as well as abroad.

Not only around the Fisheries Week, there should be steps to protect fisheries resources throughout the year and work should be done to create more sanctuaries for fish.
