Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Natore’s Baraigram upazila on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place around 10:00 am in the Tarmuz Pump area on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway, police said.
Golam Sarwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baraigram Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound microbus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction near the Tormuz Pump area, leaving the vehicle mangled.
“Five of the victims died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital. All the deceased were passengers of the microbus,” he added.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene, conducted rescue operations, and seized both vehicles.
Traffic on the busy highway remained suspended for some time following the crash.
