C T Online Desk: Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) has said that the youth of Bangladesh will no longer accept any kind of dominance, and the NCP will carry out its duties with responsibility.
He made these remarks at a roadside rally on the ninth day of the July march in Chuadanga on Wednesday, Bangla Tribune reports.
Accusing the Sheikh Hasina government of genocide, Nahid Islam said: “For the past 54 years, Indian imperialism has oppressed the people of Bangladesh. It was Sheikh Hasina who gave the order to open fire, and it is India that sheltered the killers. Not only Bangladesh, but India is also dependent on Bangladesh. India must not forget that either.”
At the rally, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain said: “No Constituent Assembly election is possible without drafting a new constitution. The leaders of this uprising want to take the country in a new direction.”
He added: “We want to tell the Indian government that it must remain accountable to the people of Bangladesh. We say to the Modi government: return Sheikh Hasina.”
Akhtar Hossain also warned that no one will be allowed to rise again as an autocrat like Sheikh Hasina. He called upon all political parties to adopt pro-Bangladesh politics.
Earlier, the NCP’s “July March to Build the Nation” campaign began from Hatboalia in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga.
The program was inaugurated on Tuesday at 12:30pm through a views exchange with party activists in Hatboalia. Central and district-level NCP leaders and activists were present at the time.
