C T Online Desk: Four people were killed and at least 15 others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar of Munshiganj.
The accident occurred at 3:20am on Friday night near the Hashara Highway Police Station.
Confirming the casualties, Dewan Azad, Station Officer of the Srinagar Fire Service, stated that two people died on the spot, while two more succumbed to their injuries after being taken to hospital. Fourteen others are currently receiving treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.
Eyewitnesses reported that the passenger bus, operated by Hamdan Express, was travelling from Jashore to the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan, carrying passengers en route to a Char Monai religious gathering. At approximately 3:20am, the bus collided head-on with an oncoming truck at the accident site.
The crash resulted in the tragic fatalities and injuries.
Abdul Qadir Jilani, Officer-in-Charge of Hashara Highway Police, said both drivers fled the scene. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway.
