Two women burnt as petrol bomb hurled at auto-rickshaw in Ctg

C T Online Desk: Two women of a family suffered burn injuries after a group of miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a running CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chattogram city’s Aturar Depot area early Saturday.

The injured are Laily Begum, 50, and her daughter-in-law Jharna, 30.

Among them, Laily Begum suffered nearly 90 percent burns and was sent to Dhaka from Chattogram Medical College Hospital’s (CMCH) Burn Unit for better treatment, said Dr. Khaled, Senior Physician of the Burn Unit at CMCH.

The incident took place in Chamrar Gudam area of Aturar Depot under Baizid Bostami Police Station around 4:30am. It is yet to be ascertained who carried out the attack.

Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek of CMCH police outpost said, “Two women were rushed to the CMCH and were admitted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit around 5:00am.”

Burn unit’s senior doctor Khaled said, “Laily was sent to Dhaka as she suffered severe burn injuries.”
