C T Online Desk: Four people, including two women, were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Habiganj early Friday.
The accident took place in Madhabpur upazila around 2am. All the victims were passengers of the pickup van which was also carrying household materials.
Two of the deceased were Jamal Hasan, 40, and his wife Ayesha Begum, 38, residents of Kadma village under Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj. The police are trying to identify the other deceased.
Madhabpur police station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun said the Dhaka-bound truck collided with the pickup van carrying 16 to 17 people in the Bakharnagar area, leaving four of them dead on the spot and five others injured.
The injured were sent to Habiganj General Hospital, he said, adding that the bodies were also transported to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
